Wattage in a Parallel Circuit is Additive

This means that to find the total wattage of a parallel circuit, just add up the wattages of each component.

Here is the formula for wattage total in a parallel circuit with 4 components:

Pt= P1 + P2 + P3 + P4

If you know the total wattage and all the component wattages except one, then here are formulas for a circuit with 4 components:

P1 = Pt - P2 - P3 - P4

P2 = Pt - P1 - P3 - P4

P3 = Pt - P1 - P2 - P4

P4 = Pt - P1 - P2 - P3
