Conversions are necessary so all units in a calculations match a formulas. So, many times, before a calculation can be made, a conversion is needed.

I have included voltage drop in this topic area because voltage drop is a calculation to convert a voltage at one location to a voltage at a distant location. Voltage drop is a theory calculation but it also involves a constant k which is a conversion of wire size to resistance.
